Competition Creation

This knowledge base article outlines the steps a portal admin/manager must go through to create a competition.

1. Navigate to the competitions tab from the left hand panel in the admin console. Then click the Create Competition button. The Competitions enabled checkbox is used to display a `Competitions` header tab on the portal, however this is not necessary to be able to access the competition. If it is clicked then you should save the competitions settings first, then create the competition.

2. On the creation page, you need to choose which type of competition is being held. Each type will give a different set of requirements for judging. If Scoreboard is chosen a CSV file containing the submission testing requirements must be submitted from the creator, to which the participants must use to win. Presentation is where the judging is done by seeing presentations from the participants and nothing needs to be submitted (the presentation can be if desired).

OPTION 1 - SCOREBOARD TYPE
3. After clicking continue from the previous page with the Scoreboard type selected, all fields afterwards must be filled out. Important to note that the Banner must be there as a PNG or JPEG file.

4. Again moving on all fields must be filled out.
Note: The Team Creation Code is the code that a team leader will use to create a team. If no creation code is used, anyone can create a team. The Leaderboard field is to add individualized leaderboards for other requirements, and is not necessary to add. There will always be an overall leaderboard that will be calculated using the score from the submission file.

5. On the next page, a reference file is required. This file is used to assign a score against a base file. The name of this CSV file must be Submission.csv . There can also be added submission requirements for participants to submit specific file types or named conventions.

6. The next page gives the description to the competition. This is what anyone (who has access to the competition) will see when they access the competition page.

7. After clicking Create, there may be a delay. Eventually, the competition will show up in the main competitions admin console page. Click on view to display the competition page. This will be the link participants can use to access the competition.

This is how the competition page looks. The participants will see the same thing except no Settings or + Add Section tabs.

OPTION 2 - PRESENTATION

3. All the fields must be filled out and a banner image must be chosen.

5. Here there must be a Rubric that needs to be filled out. There must be at least 1 Rubric field. The weights of all fields must add up to 100. None of the textfields must be left blank! Submission requirements are not necessary here.
This is an example image, these rubric fields are made up and not actually used for any competition.

6. Here is where a description to the competition can be placed.
